Ducab wins high-voltage cable contract for Dubai solar park

Ducab HV has been awarded a contract to provide and install high-voltage cables for the 900MW fifth phase of Dubai's Mohammed bin Rashid (MBR) solar park in Dubai. The phase five photovoltaic (PV) project will require high-voltage cables with a total length of 275km.

Ducab has been awarded a contract to supply and install high-voltage cables for the fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum (MBR) solar park in Dubai.

The work will involve installing high-voltage cables with a total length of about 275km. Ducab HV has been awarded the contract from China’s Shanghai Electric, the EPC contractor for the 900MW fifth phase solar project.

Energy & Utilities reported in September that the consortium, led by Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power, appointed to develop the $564m fifth phase had reached financial close for the scheme.

Dewa signed the power purchase agreement (PPA) with Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power for the 900MW fifth phase project in April. The PPA was signed for a levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) tariff of $cents1.6953/kWh, one of the lowest PV solar tariffs in the world.

In July, Acwa Power appointed China’s Shanghai Electric as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project.
