Siemens signs smart energy deal with Saudi Arabia’s Tarshid

Germany’s Siemens has signed a contract with Saudi Arabia’s National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) to improve the energy performance of buildings for the National Information Centre (NIC), part of the kingdom’s Ministry of Interior.

Based on the Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) model, Siemens will support the NIC improve the energy performance of its buildings through data analytics and digital services, with a target of reducing the energy consumption of NIC buildings by 28 per cent. This is expected to be the equivalent of reducing 4,300 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the environment.

Tarshid was established in 2017 by state sovereign wealth vehicle the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to provide funding for projects to reduce energy usage across the kingdom’s government and private commercial sectors.
