Middle East Energy’s Transmission & Distribution Week begins on 24 May, featuring experts and industry leaders from across the world’s electricity and technology sectors.

Kicking off the week at 11am (Gulf standard time) on 24 May will be an Industry Leaders Panel addressing the topic of “Impact of Digitalisation on transmission and distribution networks.”

Speaking on the panel will be:

  • Suddhasatta Kundu, senior manager – technical advisory, India Smart Grid Forum
  • Ahmed Fateen, power systems VP, Schneider Electric
  • Mohammed Ayoub, regional growth leader, GE
  • Mate Gerecs, associate director, Energy Utility Transformation, BCG
  • Claudio Pedretti, president Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE)

At 12pm GST, Roberto Moreira, EDF, will give an insight into “Reducing network losses with digitalisation technologies.”

At 2pm GST, the second Industry Leaders Panel, “Making technologies work for you”, will welcome:

  • Majd Coussa, director of energy and utilities, Etisalat
  • Pete Davis, head of global engineering and SVP Digital Engineering Solutions, Uniper
  • Nauman Asfar, regional vice president – MEA & Turkey, Oracle Utilities, Oracle
  • Ghazi Atallah, CEO, NXN

Also being broadcast on 24 May:

  • Frederic Dollinger from Haefely will be providing insight into “Testing transformers for the grid of the future”
  • Markus Guhr, test engineer, KEMA-CESI, will be providing insight into “Transformer Arc Testing”
  • Marc Buisson, project manager, EDF Energy, will discuss “Latest energy storage technologies at hydo pumps”
  • Josip Motik, research and development engineer, Koncar D&ST, will present “Distribution and power transformers in smart networks”
  • “Revolutionising urban planning through underground cables,”: a discussion with Uberto Vercellotti, CESI, Sebastien Verhoeven, KEMA-CESI and Ashish Chaturvedy, Ducab
