Metito Utilities has been awarded an estimated $90m contract to develop a wastewater treatment plant in Namangan City, Uzbekistan.

The project, which will be developed as a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme, will be operated under a 25-year concession agreement.

The project will involve the construction of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity to treat 100,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d) of sewage water and the development of a 7.5km sewer network.

According to Uzbekistan’s PPP Development Agency, 23 foreign firms had initially submitted expressions of interest (EOI) in the project, with Metito seeing off competition from Almar Water Solutions to win the deal.
