GE wins onshore wind contract with Power China
GE will provide wind turbines for the PowerChina project in the Henan province of China. GE is already providing wind turbines for a 715MW wind project in the Henan province, under the largest wind energy contract awarded to a non-Chinese turbine manufacturer
US-based GE Renewable Energy has been awarded a contract by Power China Guizhou Engineering Company (PowerChina) to provide wind turbines for a 30MW onshore project near Puyang City in China.
The 30MW Xuanli Qingfeng wind farm will power more than 40,000 homes in China’s Henan province.
GE will provide 12 units of 2.5-132 onshore wind turbines for the scheme, with the contract including a two-year service agreement.
The contract marks GE’s first onshore wind deal with Powerchina, a long-term engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner of GE. Construction of the wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2020.
In November 2019, GE was awarded a contract by China Huaneng Group to provide wind turbines for a 715MW wind farm in the Henan province. GE will provide 286 of its 2.5-132 turbines for the project under the largest wind energy contract awarded to a non-Chinese wind turbine manufacturer in China.
