The 829MW fourth phase of the H-Station power plant in Al-Aweer, Dubai, is due to be commissioned by the second quarter of 2022, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has revealed.

Dewa revealed on 7 June that more than 84 per cent of the construction works on the H-Station expansion project had been completed. Dewa is investing AED1.1bn ($300m) on the fourth phase expansion of the Al-Aweer plant.

The 829MW fourth phase will increase the total capacity of the Al-Aweer H station to 2,825MW, adding additional capacity to Dewa’s current 12,900MW of installed generation resources.

The project is being constructed by a consortium of Germany’s Siemens and Egypt’s Elsewedy Power. The consortium was awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build the power plant in 2018.
