Siemens Energy wins Kuwait substation contract

Germany’s Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract by Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) to provide maintenance for 116 high-voltage substations, the biggest transmission service contract ever awarded in Kuwait

Germany’s Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract by Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) to provide maintenance for 116 high-voltage substations, the biggest transmission service contract ever awarded in Kuwait.

Under the five-year contract, Siemens will provide preventive maintenance and emergency repair of the substations. This will include various voltage levels switchgears and power transformers in each substation.

“This agreement builds on our strong legacy of successful projects in Kuwait,” said Herbert Klausner, Managing Director of Siemens Energy Kuwait. “We remain committed to driving power sector efficiency across Kuwait and helping the Ministry of Electricity meet the increasing demand for power for domestic, industrial and municipal use.”

The contract is the latest of a number of contracts Kuwait has awarded in the past three years to upgrade the country’s electricity network.

Earlier in November, MEW awarded a contract to GE Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions Business to provide long-term maintenance services for 54 electrical substations across Kuwait.
