Siemens Energy wins contract for Dubai power and water plant

Siemens Energy has been awarded a service contract to upgrade and expand services at the Jebel Ali L2 power and water plant in Dubai

Siemens Energy has been awarded a service contract to upgrade and expand services at the Jebel Ali L2 power and water station in Dubai.

Under the 20-year service agreement, Siemens will supply intelligent controllers for each of the four SFT5-400F gas turbines and upgrade control system of the power plant.

The contract will also include services for generators and upgrades for outage reduction and operational flexibility.

The intelligent controller was co-developed by Dewa and Siemens Energy in 2019 and was the world’s first thermodynamic digital twin gas turbine (GT) intelligent controller. The controller uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to provide power plant operators with a complete and continuous overview of power plant operations.

Upgrades for the SGT5-4000F gas turbines will reduce outages by 25 per cent.
