Oman seeks legal adviser for future IWP projects
Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has invited law firms to submit proposals for the contract to provide legal advisory services for future independent water producer (IWP) projects in the sultanate.
The client has invited legal firms to submit bids by 12 January for the advisory services role.
OPWP has stated in the tender document that, due to the requirement for a number of IWP projects, more than one firm may be appointed to provide legal advisory services for each project.
In April this year, OPWP invited technical consultants to submit proposals for advisory roles on future IWPS. In May, the client invited financial firms to submit bids for financial and commercial advisory services roles on future desalination projects.
In its latest seven-year planning statement, which lays out forecasts and planned new projects to be developed between 2019 and 2025, OPWP states that peak water demand in the main interconnected system (MIS) is projected to increase by 7 per cent a year, from 967,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d) to 1.56 million cm/d by 2025.
In the Sharqiyah Zone, water demand is expected to increase at a rate of 5 per cent a year, from 121,000 cm/d in 2018 to 175,000 cm/d in 2025.
