Metito wins contract to upgrade Jordan wastewater plants
Metito has been awarded a $51m contract to rehabiliate the Central Ibrid Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and the Wadi Al-Arab WWTP
Metito has been awarded a €42m ($51m) contract to rehabilitate the Central Irbid Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Wadi Al-Arab WWTP.
The project is expected to cut greenhouse emissions by approximately 6,600 metric tonnes a year and provide more than 10 million cubic metres of treated sewage effluent (TSE) per year.
The project scope includes the rehabilitation and upgrade of Irbid Central WWTP (13,000 m3/day capacity), and Wadi Al Arab (27,000m3/day capacity). As part of the agreement, Metito will rehabilitate the tertiary treatment in the two WWTPs, upgrade sludge lines, provide robust odour control measures, optimize energy consumption and generate energy utilizing biogas.
The project will improve the quality of TSE to enable reuse and increase the availability of irrigation water in the area. Work on the project is due to begin on 1 July 2021 with completion expected in July 2023.
