Developing highly advanced weather and load forecasting systems coupled with extensive storage facilities will be vital to ensure optimum performance from electricity grids in the future according to Ahmed Mousa, manager of Utility of the Future business unit at US-based Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSEG).
Speaking in a panel discussion at the Middle East Energy Online 2021 conference, Mousa also said that developing electronics that can store and use the available data effectively was key to ensuring stable supplies of electricity with increasing integration of intermittent renewable energy resources..
“Developing strong connections between cities [in the US] will also play a vital role and would enable more effective distribution of power,” Mousa told delegates.
Middle East Energy Online 2021 is being held over a four week period from 17 May to 9 June.
