Overview: Being held under the patronage and in partnership with the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, GEUF kicked off with addresses from the energy ministry and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. The opening addresses were followed by a high-level panel discussion on the 'Roadmap to Decarbonisation'.
As part of the opening panel, leading industry professionals from the public and private sector discussed the top-level strategies and approaches to decarbonisation, the role of policy and regulation in facilitating the energy transition and the importance of regional and international cooperation in meeting net-zero targets.
With increasing capacities of renewables to be integrated into national grids, the importance of system planning and development of energy storage to support stable balanced grids is emerging as a key requirement. This issue was addressed in the ‘Energy of the Systems’ panel at GEUF, with senior representatives from NEOM in Saudi Arabia and the electricity ministry in Kuwait joined by leading technology companies to discuss the future needs of energy systems.
GEUF sessions will also give you an outlook on green hydrogen as an emerging opportunity in the MENA region, rise of sustainable finance, energy funding and investments and in-depth discussions on powering African continent with renewable energy.
