GE and Shandong Tiejun complete Rabigh substation
Substation will supply power to the 600,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d) Rabigh 3A independent water producer project (IWP)
US-based GE and China’s Shandong Tiejun have completed works on the electrical substation which will supply power to the Rabigh 3A independent water producer (IWP) project.
GE’s Grid Solutions completed the design, civil works, equipment supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the 380/110kV substation.
GE’s Grid Automation facility in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, supplied protection and SAS Systems for the project. Intelligent spatial planning and the compact design of the T155 380kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) allowed the substation to be developed in less space.
Energy & Utilities reported in March 2020 that the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) had appointed a consortium led by the local Acwa Power to develop the 600,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d) Jubail 3A IWP.
