EXCLUSIVE: Developers work on proposals for Qatar IWPP

Developers are working on proposals for the planned Facility E independent water and power producer (IWPP) project in Qatar.

State utility Kahramaa has set a bid submission date of 10 February for the IWPP, having issued the request for proposals (RFP) in September.

The Facility E IWPP is expected to have a power generation capacity of 2,300MW and a desalination capacity of 100 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD).

Energy & Utilities understands that prequalified bidders for the project include: Engie (France) / Mitsui (Japan), Itochu (Japan), Kepco (South Korea) / Mitsubishi (Japan), PowerChina (China), Sumitomo (Japan) and Marubeni (Japan).

The appointed advisory consortium for the project includes UK-based EY as financial adviser, Finland’s Poyry as technical adviser and the UK’s DLA Piper as legal adviser.
