Ducab commissions head office solar plant

Ducab has officially opened a 2MW solar plant at its head office site in Jebel Ali, Dubai.
The opening, was attended by Saeed Mohammed al-Tayer, MD and CEO of state utility Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa), inaugurated the solar installation, which comprises of both rooftop and ground mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar.
The PV installation will have the capacity to produce 3.5GWh of electricity a year, which is enough energy to run the Ducab PVC plant on site or meet the energy requirements of 500 homes. According to Ducab, the solar plant will lead to savings of approximately 660 tonnes per year of carbon dioxide.
“I am pleased to commission Ducab’s photovoltaic solar plant. I congratulate the Group on this achievement, which affirms its commitment to a culture of sustainability. It also underlines Ducab’s role as a leading organisation that supports the vision of our wise leadership to reduce carbon emissions, and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to make Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world and provide 75 per cent of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy sources by 2050,” Saeed Mohammed al-Tayer said at the opening.
