Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has tendered a contract for building a floating photovoltaic (PV) pilot plant.

Contractors have until 15 February to submit proposals for the project.

Dewa awarded Germany’s Fichtner a consultancy contract for a planned PV floating solar project following a competitive tendering process.

Dubai has set an ambitious target for clean energy to contribute to 25 per cent of its total power production by 2030.

In May 2020, Dewa revealed that solar energy accounted for 9 per cent of the emirate's total power generation capacity, passing the 7 per cent target set for 2020 in the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
