Dubai receives six bids for pilot floating solar project

Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) received six bids for a floating photovoltaic (PV) solar project in the emirate. The lowest bid was submitted by Turkey's Yeo Contracting

 

Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) received six bids for a floating photovoltaic (PV) solar project.

The utility received the proposals by the 15 April deadline.

The lowest bid of AED3.01m was submitted by Turkey’s Yeo Contracting.

The full list of bidders and prices are:

  • Yeo Contracting, AED3.01m
  • Pure Energy Construction, MAHY & Co, AED4.38m
  • Maessa Telcommunicaciones Ingeniera, AED7.120m
  • Powerchina, AED7.296m
  • Green Solar General Contracting, AED8.655m
  • ESEME Energy, AED16.5m

Dewa awarded Germany’s Fichtner a consultancy contract for the planned PV floating solar project following a competitive tendering process.

Dubai has set an ambitious target for clean energy to contribute to 25 per cent of its total power production by 2030.

In May 2020, Dewa revealed that solar energy accounted for 9 per cent of the emirate's total power generation capacity, passing the 7 per cent target set for 2020 in the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
