Dubai desalination plant to be commissioned in 2021

The plant is being built under an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Spain's Acciona Agua and Belhasa Six Construct (Besix)

A 40 million imperial gallon a day (MIGD) desalination plant under construction at Jebel Ali in Dubai is due to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2021, state utility Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has revealed.

The plant is being built under an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Spain’s Acciona Agua and Belhasa Six Construct (Besix).

The site was recently visited by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa, who was briefed that 79 per cent of the construction works on the project had been completed. Most of the marine works have been completed and commissioning works have started, with the first power transformer already operational.
