ACCIONA completes final tests on Qatar desalination project

Spain’s ACCIONA has completed final tests on its 282 million litres per day (l/d) reverse osmosis (RO) desalination project in Qatar

Spain’s ACCIONA has completed final tests on its 282 million litres per day (l/d) reverse osmosis (RO) desalination project in Qatar.

The project was an expansion of the desalination capacity of the Umm al-Houl independent water and power producer (IWPP) project in Qatar. The total desalination capacity of the Umm al-Houl plant is now 564 million l/d.

The plant now has the capacity to provide water for 1.1 million people.

The Umm al-Houl expansion project (UHP expansion) was completed in a 22-month period.
